The NDIS Price Guide and Support Catalogue were updated on 17 November. All the changes are effective 1 December 2020. We have put together a summary of what you need to know about the changes.

Equal Remuneration Order (ERO)

In 2012, the Fair Work Commission made an ERO to gradually increase wages for some employees in the Social and Community Services sector. There has been a final adjustment of the ERO. Due to the adjustment, price limits of 369 support items will increase. The increases will be between 1.5% and 2.7%.

To see the support items impacted, look at the ‘Price limits determined by the Cost Model’ in the Disability Support Worker Cost Model 2020-21.

Programs of support for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) supports

The Price Guide has clarified that providers of capacity building ECI supports can enter into an agreement with a participant for programs of support. Programs of support for ECI can include group and one-to-one supports for participants.

Claiming for telehealth

The Price Guide has made some clarifications about telehealth. Telehealth services can be delivered when providers and participants are not, or cannot be in the same physical location. The provider must have the agreement of the participant in advance.

As well as the above, other conditions that must be met include:

  • the delivery of the support by telehealth is appropriate

  • proposed charges for the activity are compliant with the Price Guide and participant's Service Agreement

  • the activities are part of delivering a specific disability support item

  • the provider explains the activities and their value to the participant.

The standard of care delivered through telehealth is expected to be equal to face-to-face care.

Claims are made using the relevant support item, using the “Telehealth Services” option in the myplace portal.

Increased price limits and new columns in the Support Catalogue

The Support Catalogue now includes the increased price limits for 369 support items. As mentioned above, these are a result of the final ERO adjustment.

Also, 5 columns have been added back into the Support Catalogue. These can help providers easily identify if they can claim for:

  • non-face-to-face support provision

  • provider travel

  • short notice cancellation

  • NDIA requested supports

  • irregular Supported Independent Living (SIL) options.
